Santa was late this Christmas in delivering a gift to a 9 year old girl…yet thanks to Angela and Omar’s kindness and help, he still managed to make it right in time to deliver gifts and lots of happiness!

Covid 19 might have ruined many people’s Christmas but there are always heart warming stories too. As I lay alone at home in quarantine and my husband upstairs in isolation, another message came in on my phone, most of them today have been to thank me or from friends to wish me a happy Christmas. This one was different. It said “I’m a single parent and only started working again on first December..I explained to my 9year old daughter that Father Christmas will be visiting late this year. I didn’t afford any presents or anything special. She still believes in him but I didn’t want to spoil it and tell her the truth. Maybe someone has something to spare for her..many thanks”

“Santa was late”… I had to do something, so I contacted Angela, who only yesterday had contacted me to tell me they had to close-down their toy shop and had some toys left over.  Angela asked me if I knew of any children who might be without toys this Christmas.

I couldn’t believe it when she got back to me within 10 mins with the news that she had found some toys, had already wrapped them and her husband was ready to jump on his bike to deliver them right away! Her message read “We love to help especially kids, we have the stock at home so we can act fast”

And oh my gosh did they act fast – Omar was on his bike and at the house faster than you can say Ho! Ho! Ho! He rang the bell and when Sophia (not her real name) opened the door, he told her “unfortunately Santa had delivered your presents to our house by mistake!” What a genius excuse! “Sophia was jumping with joy when I handed her the presents” Omar later told me.

This story just highlights the true spirit of Christmas small kindnesses and special moments experienced between strangers.

Angela told me “We had to close down our shop because of Covid but at least some good came out of it”

Covid ruined Christmas for many, even for me and my family as we couldn’t be together, but thankfully this story has ended this day on a really happy note. Thank you Angela and Omar your kindness made my Christmas 2020 a special one to remember.
