I was curious to meet Emma Beck, a midwife and psychotherapist. The combination of these two specialities intrigued me and I wanted to get to know more about Emma.
We planned to meet at her clinic, because something I had not realised is that Emma is also a successful and determined businesswoman. Emma also runs and set up the Sweet Valley Family Clinic in B’Kara.
We had never met before and I was very surprised to find such a young woman with a warm smile and bubbly character. I was eager and curious to know more about what the Sweet Valley Family Clinic is all about.
What does she mean by family clinic, is it because its family run?
“No its because we treat our clients like family and we can also treat all the family, from pregnancy to birth to paediatric needs once the child starts growing”, Emma explains, “not only for mums and babies but we also have nutritionists, endocrinologists, psychotherapists, experts in neurology, we can help the whole family with whatever they may need health wise throughout their life journey.”
I am impressed by the holistic approach to health and wellbeing, Emma herself sees prospective mothers as a midwife and works hand in hand with the gynaecologists at Sweet Valley Family Clinic. I also learn that Sweet Valley Family Clinic also have an infertility expert, and a geneticist.
I really liked this holistic concept, I didn’t realise that one could actually meet a midwife before the birth, most importantly I love the idea of being able to contact a midwife privately after the birth for any issues parents may have, whether physical or psychological.
It is clear to see that Emma is very passionate about her work and although this is a small family clinic it is big on standards, ideas and attention to detail. From the décor to the colouring wall for children to colour on, to the impeccable cleanliness and Covid safety measures, this is a place where I felt very welcome and at home.
I can really also see the benefits and value of being treated in a small clinic that can follow clients and guide them through their health care journey, a place where the client is cared for and treated as a whole and how a holistic approach can possibly achieve better health outcomes for the whole family.
