Refresh your home this upcoming season by following these 5 easy ways that can help you recreate beautifully your living area…
Transitioning with clothes from season to season can be tough enough, but it doesn’t need to be an ordeal when it comes to sprucing up your home.
In Summer we all need light and airy textures, neutral colours & as little fabrics around as possible, but Winter brings in a whole new vibe, for your wardrobe and your home!
Use these 5 easy ways of freshening up your home for the coming season, without spending an arm and a leg!
1. A Touch of Paint Goes a Long Way.
When we think summer homes, the walls are always light and bright. If not completely white, we definitely lean towards light greys or breezy neutrals, that just add that touch of colour without over-saturating the walls.
When Winter is upon us the cold makes us want to draw it all in, sit by the fireplace and wrap ourselves up in merino wool.
Choosing a warmer colour for your walls can give the illusion of a warmer space. A warmer shade of grey, or a soft blue could do the trick, and if you enjoy your colour throughout all seasons, then why not go for a shade suited for both Summer and Winter!
2. Bed Linen Refresh
A simple way of know we are entering the cold season is when a flat sheet doesn’t quite cut it at night. We now need to wrap up in a duvet and some of us even blankets over this!
Refreshing your bed linen isn’t just a necessity to retain body heat but will also freshen up your bedroom and give it a whole new look.
Again, Summer does draw us to the lighter colours. I personally love white bed linen, where everything feels fresh and light, exactly what I’m after during the hot months. Winter brings in a different feeling where a darker, possibly textured linen would work wonders. Heavy fabrics and warmer colours add depth to the space, giving the effect of a cosier room. To go the extra mile, use cushions, throws and large pillows to really fill out the bed and give that hotel-feel!
3. Reboot with Décor
Don’t underestimate styling your table top surfaces.
Remember if you are styling a large room, large ornaments are preferred due to keeping in line with the scale of the space.
Sprucing up your home with vases, candles and even some coffee table books are a simple and effective way of adding interest to your space, as well as warmth and a fresh new, more styled look.
One common mistake I do notice in interiors is a lack of styling, and empty furniture pieces tend to look bland and not lived in. Use items of interest to really add your personality to your home, after all, it is a representation of you and who you are, so don’t be afraid to take risks here whilst you refresh your home!
4. Greenery is Grand!
Any room can do with a touch of added greenery.
I love plants for so many reasons! You’re improving the air quality within your home as well as creating a gorgeous visual that adds nature to your home.
Maintaining plants can also be fun! Watching your green friends grow can be very satisfying and an afternoon of repotting and watering can be quite calming.
Try create a cluster of plants, for me the magic number is 3. I love creating mini collections around the house. They look pretty, fill up empty spaces and just give an all-round great feeling!
5. Rugs and Carpets
Layering in your home creates depth, which removes the feeling of a cold space.
During the Winter months this is especially needed, but thin and low pile rugs can be found all over, which are super for Summer use!
Rugs and carpets can add colour, texture and even pattern to your home. Their functional element is to frame and divide spaces, such as a sofa area or a bed. They are incredibly versatile, make for a cosy home but also help to accentuate your style as can be quite impactful!
When you refresh your home you can make a world of difference to your home.
Everyone should be able to feel safe and happy in the space they call their own, after all, it is our sanctuary.
The tips shown above on how to refresh your home are all focused on leading to the one important thing that matters, which is for a happier environment within your home. If that isn’t worth a small investment I don’t know what is!
