Europa Donna Malta is an advocacy and support group for breast cancer patients and its members include patients, survivors and family members. We have been supporting women and men for the past 30 years. When a person is diagnosed with breast cancer, they need support throughout their journey especially after going through surgery and treatment. This is where Europa Donna Malta steps in.

We offer counselling by professional counsellors, as well as organise group sessions where members are welcome to share their stories and experiences. We also organise lectures for health professionals and the general public to help raise awareness. All our services are free of charge and are organised by volunteers.

This year due to the pandemic, all breast cancer charities around Europe had to cancel their awareness events. For this reason, we were invited by Think Pink Europe to join the Race for the Cure 2020.

Race for the Cure 2020 is a digital race that is being hosted in 22 European Countries. Since events related to breast health had to be postponed or cancelled, the Race for Cure 2020 will virtually bring together survivors, family and friends for a 3K walk or 5K run during the last weekend of September to support those who beat breast cancer, loved ones who are affected by the disease and commemorate those who have passed away.

The registrations and donations collected through this virtual event will be distributed to participating support groups, organisations and hospitals dedicated to helping breast cancer patients amongst which will be Europa Donna Malta.

Those joining will walk, skip or run wherever they feel safe, even indoors on a treadmill or at the gym, as a team of friends, family members or colleagues, whilst always observing the COVID-19 guidelines. Participation information is easily found through the following link: https://www.raceforthecure.eu/en/Participate/Info

Additionally, we urge participants to help us create a big pink online buzz by sharing their workouts, pink outfits, get-togethers on social media, using the hashtag #RFTC2020 to inspire others to follow.
